Avoid Scams & Fraud

Dukespost.com is committed to helping our customers avoid scams and to providing the best information to protect them against fraudulent, misleading, or fake postings. Dukespost reserves the right to remove any posts without warning that we feel are misleading, fake, or fraudulent. If you think a posting is a scam or is fake please flag that listing. If you get any suspicious emails please forward them to contact@dukespost.com immediately. Dukespost.com is not responsible for any listing, ad, or post placed on the website. The buyer and seller are responsible for the posting made and any contact between them.

To protect yourself against scams, follow these directions:

DEAL LOCALLY - When contacting a seller/person who made the post, always be sure it is someone who you can meet. Meet the seller and see the animal/item in person before you buy.

CHECK CONTACT INFORMATION - Always look for as much contact information that a breeder/seller can provide. Phone number, email address, physical address, and websites should always be looked at and verified. A reputable breeder will provide all of their contact information. When you first contact a seller by phone or email, express your interest in the animal/item and ask any questions you may have

NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM OR ANY OTHER WIRE SERVICE- Anyone who asks you to wire money during a transaction cannot be trusted and is most likely a scammer.

NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION TO A STRANGER - Always protect your personal financial information such as bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.

FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON IN SCAMS - Do not take a cashier check and then mail back the difference.

TRUST YOUR FEELINGS - If a deal is too good to be true, it is. If you feel unsure about a sale, don't do it. If it looks like a scam, it probably is. Ask questions, limit personal information, and establish the credibility of the buyer/seller.

What to look for to avoid scams:

• A buyer who wants to overpay (using a fake cashiers check), and asks you to send back the difference.

• Pedigreed pets that are underpriced or free except for a shipping charge.

• Animals that are shipped from outside the United States.

• A buyer/seller who only wants to use Western Union or Moneygram.
